First time volunteering? Please follow these steps!
- Sign up for "Fully Programmed: Working with Students Training" on the Volunteer Sign-Up Calendar (if you haven't yet completed it).
- Read our Volunteer Handbook, paying particular attention to our Virtual Programming Guidelines on page 23.
- Sign our Digital Program Agreement & National Volunteer Guidelines.
- Once you've completed Fully Programmed, you can start working with our students – virtually! You can find virtual volunteer opportunities on our Volunteer Sign-Up Calendar, on the "Online Learning Lab" tab.

About Workshops
826michigan offers creative writing workshops that cover a wide spectrum of subjects, all designed to strengthen students’ skills, foster their creativity, and give them an opportunity to showcase their work (readings, chapbooks, etc).You are welcome to sign-up for workshops a la carte (there is no long-term commitment), but if a workshop is scheduled for multiple sessions, we ask that you attend all of the sessions. During our virtual season, our workshops will take the form of Wee-Bots, described more fully below. Read on to learn about other creative workshop opportunities we are offering for remote engagement!

Wee-Bots

During Wee-Bots Drop-in Writing, writers between the ages of 5-10 come together to work on various writing exercises, led by our creative Drop-in leaders. Volunteers are always welcome and encouraged to come and support as well as participate.

Writing Kits

We recognize that our students all have varying levels of access to technology. We putting together and sending out our Write Now Writing Kits to students. These writing kits include a variety of writing prompts from 826michigan, writing utensils, stickers, paper, postcards and more, depending on the theme of the kit.
